Andy Cheese – PGA Professional – One year on

It is now one year since Igloo proudly sponsored 25 Year old golfer Andy Cheese who is the touring professional affiliated to the Sutton Coldfield Golf Club, and what a fantastic debut year it has been for Andy.

Andy has been a committed golfer since an early age and has spent most of his teenage years on the golf course. He managed to qualify as a PGA Professional in 2010 after dedicating the 3 years prior to that studying for and successfully achieving his PGA degree.

2013 was Andy’s first season of competing as a full time Touring Professional Golfer. Andy’s whole life is dedicated to achieving his ambitions and he took part in an astonishing 53 different events, playing in 5 different countries. As a Professional debutant, his first season should have been about learning the ropes but Andy wanted more than that. Out of the 53 tournaments Andy has incredibly managed to win 7 tournaments, had 10 second places and a fantastic 35 top ten placements. When you consider that Andy also managed to win the prestigious Midlands Order of Merit, making him the most consistent golfer on his tour, it has been a truly outstanding achievement for his debut season!!

Season highlights from Andy’s 2013 season included winning the prestigious PGL Tour Algarve Masters with an 11 under par total over 4 rounds, finishing 8 shots clear of the field. When Andy won his 7th event of the season at Woburn in the IJP Design Players Tour Match Play event, he secured a high profile and much sought after clothing contract with world famous Ian Poulter’s company, IJP Design.  (http://www.theplayerstour.org.uk/morenews.php?catid=17&id=139)

As a result of his consistency and incredible achievements, Andy has attracted a vast amount of media coverage including multiple appearances on Sky Sports, articles in golf magazines, tabloid newspapers and on the golf tour websites.

When Andy wasn’t travelling to and competing in events, he devoted all his spare hours to improve as a professional athlete, by working on all aspects of his game. Andy’s ambition remains as solid today as it was when he was starting out in the game and that is to be competing with the worlds top golfers.

“I dedicate myself to my career and I’m passionate about becoming the best golfer I can be.”

Igloo are delighted and proud to announce that our sponsorship of Andy will continue into the 2014 Golf season and we wish him continued success for the forthcoming season and for his career.
